Board Training
As a recent Lead Pastor, I had the opportunity to pull wisdom I received in the D.Min./Christian Leadership program at Fuller Seminary years ago–and create a program for the group of Board leaders and elders.
The program provided group training and discussion about how to be a follower of Jesus that is growing on the inside and outside. Many people focus on one or the other, but both are needed to be a thriving whole disciple.
The Board Training program I created can be offered with just my material, my coming for initial/final trainings, quarterly sessions, even a weekend retreat…however best fits a church’s or organization’s needs.
Church-wide Mentoring Program
Years ago, I was hired by Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa to create/implement a churchwide Mentoring Program. At the time, their church had over 2000 young adults attending. With ideas I learned during my time at Fuller, a prototype tested at Mount Hermon, and the help of a volunteer lead team, I created a church wide mentoring program.
All training materials for mentors and mentees, questionnaires that helped match people up, event plans for formal trainings/opening night/closing celebration, and other resources.
This program was a success–with over 500 people being matched up to meet for 10 weeks, and some continuing on for years. I have since shared and tought the program in both small and medium sized churches since that time. The power of one-on-one care, mentors giving out of what God gave them, and mentees learning from the wisdom of another–this was the sweetest fruit to see and be a part of.
Leadership Team/Staff training and Diagnosis
I have experienced the blessing and privilege to train church leadership teams and camp summer staff/counselors many times over. From Southern and Northern California church leadership groups, to many camps in Santa Cruz County, and at Camp Pondo in Running Springs for over 20 years straight–I absolutely thrive and deeply enjoy this piece of SoulPraxis.
To share from my doctoral education in leadership, and mold that teaching with the real-time ministry of Christian camp and church leaders, my soul is satisfied with feelings of completion.
Most recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Columbia with my great friend Bill Fernald, President/CEO of Christian Camping International–to train Central and South American camp leaders on the principles from Bobby Clinton on healthy leadership over a lifetime and finishing well. We had a blast!
